How does the Lithuanian student route actually work?
Lithuania differs from most of its neighbours in one important way: for many Indian students it is a two-stage process, not a single application.
- First a National Long-Term Visa (Type D) for initial entry
- Then a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) once you are in the country, for the longer stay
- That means two sets of paperwork and two timelines to plan around — the mistake we see most often is treating it as one step
- Latvia, by contrast, is a direct TRP route with no separate visa stage
On the money side we will not quote you a figure here. Lithuania ties its subsistence requirement to a national benchmark that is revised, and the numbers currently circulating online disagree with each other quite widely. We confirm the current official amount for your case at your consultation rather than repeat something that may be out of date.
