Current entry rules for Indian passport holders

For ordinary Indian passports travelling for tourism. The Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand entries link to the official government pages they come from. Rules change, so we check them again before you book.

Dubai / UAEVisa needed before travel for most Indian passport holders

A tourist visa is for people not eligible for visa on arrival. Apply online with ICP or GDRFA Dubai, or through UAE airlines, licensed travel agents or hotels; UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas (u.ae). Your stay is set by the visa issued. Visa on arrival is only for those who also hold a US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit, valid 6+ months (GDRFA Dubai: 14 days, extendable once), or, since 13 February 2025, a residence permit from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore (UAE Embassy, New Delhi). (checked 30 September 2026)

SingaporeVisa needed before travel

ICA lists India among the countries whose travellers need a valid Singapore entry visa. If no local contact in Singapore applies online for you, apply through an authorised visa agent appointed by a Singapore mission, or at the mission (ICA: visa requirements). Stay length is set on arrival: ICA grants a Visit Pass by email, and it is not tied to your visa’s validity. Every traveller must also submit the free SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival (including the day of arrival); it is not a visa (ICA: SG Arrival Card). (checked 30 September 2026)

MalaysiaVisa-free up to 30 days, until 31 December 2026

Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry (New Delhi mission page) says the visa waiver for Indian nationals runs until 31 December 2026, for up to 30 days, for business, tourism, social or transit purposes. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months, confirmed return flight tickets, a confirmed hotel booking and the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), submitted online three days before arrival (KLN, New Delhi). For travel after 31 December 2026, check the official page before booking. (checked 30 September 2026)

ThailandVisa-free for tourism, up to 30 days

The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi says the 30-day visa exemption for Indian passport holders entering Thailand for tourism took effect on 15 September 2026 (announcement). For a longer tourist stay, apply for an e-visa at thaievisa.go.th (embassy update). Every non-Thai visitor must complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before entry; the Immigration Bureau asks for it 3 days before arrival, and it is not a visa (TDAC). (checked 30 September 2026)

A visa or visa exemption does not guarantee entry: the immigration officer at the border decides (ICA says a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore). An arrival card (SG Arrival Card, MDAC or TDAC) is not a visa.

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Dubai?

Most do. The UAE government portal says a tourist visa is for people who are not eligible for visa on arrival or visa-free entry. It is arranged online through ICP or GDRFA Dubai, or through UAE airlines, licensed travel agents or hotels; UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas. Visa on arrival is open only to ordinary Indian passport holders who also hold a valid US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit (GDRFA Dubai: 14 days, extendable once), or, since 13 February 2025, a valid residence permit from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea or Singapore (checked 30 September 2026).

Do I need a visa for Singapore?

Yes. ICA, Singapore's immigration authority, lists India among the countries whose travellers need a valid entry visa. You apply through an authorised visa agent appointed by a Singapore mission, or at the mission, unless a local contact in Singapore applies online for you. Every traveller must also submit the free SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival. The arrival card is not a visa (checked 30 September 2026).

Can Indians visit Malaysia without a visa?

Yes, until 31 December 2026, for up to 30 days, for business, tourism, social or transit purposes, according to Malaysia's Foreign Ministry (New Delhi mission). How long can Indians stay in Thailand without a visa?

Up to 30 days for tourism. The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi says this 30-day visa exemption for Indian passport holders took effect on 15 September 2026. Every foreign visitor must also complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival (checked 30 September 2026).
