Parents of New Zealand citizens and residents

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has two visitor visas for parents.

The Parent and Grandparent Visitor Visa lets you stay up to 6 months at a time, with a maximum of 18 months in 3 years. You must be sponsored by your child or grandchild (or the grandchild’s parent, if the grandchild is 17 or younger), you or your sponsor pay for any health care, and you cannot get this visa again within 36 months of the last one.

The Parent Boost Visitor Visa is a multi-entry visa for up to 5 years. INZ lists a cost from NZD 3,100 and a processing time of around 4 months. It asks for a sponsoring adult child who is a New Zealand citizen or resident, medical or travel insurance, and that you live outside New Zealand when you apply.

Visa Connection does not advise which visa suits your family; read both official pages. Immigration New Zealand decides every application. Visa Connection is not a licensed New Zealand immigration adviser: we help only in Punjab with collecting documents and with travel.
